Practical SI Timeline Checklist
Use this month-by-month checklist to help you organize and prioritize as you move through your school improvement planning cycle.  (PDF Jan 2012)

Overview of the School Improvement Process
Understanding how school improvement parallels individual student achievement and RtI and the stages and steps of the Michigan School Improvement model in a world of increased rigor (Pwr Pt Feb 2012)

Improvement Stages

This navigational method allows you to view the steps of the school improvement process (gather/study, plan, implement, progress monitor/evaluate) in varying levels of detail.  Each page includes an overview of how the stage fits with the overall process, as well as links to supporting pages for all required reports, and a variety of pertinent resources.

Slides one through three to the right represent the most up-to-date versions of the school improvement cycle, detailing a combination of MDE's projected adoptions, as well as our own suggested "soft" deadlines for required reports.  The fourth slide references the Program Evaluation component that will become an integral part of the school improvement process; it is followed by a slide detailing the questions therein.  The document was recently divided into a planning tool and an evaluation tool, to further increase its effectiveness.

Improvement Stages

Gather/Study Data (celebrating and defining the problem)

Plan (selecting strategies to solve identified problems)

Implement (with fidelity)

Monitor/Evaluate (checking and evaluating progress)
