Progress Monitor/Evaluate
Effective progress monitoring enables us to answer the essential question that drives the School Improvement process: "Is what we're doing working, and how do we know?" Evaluation allows us to look back over our process and ask the questions, "How did our plan work and what was its impact on students?" Program evaluation depends on good monitoring.
This page houses overview information on key characteristics, as well as links to additional resources, to aid in the creation, adoption, and effective implementation of a robust progress monitoring and evaluation system. |
NEW STATE REQUIREMENT FOR EVALUATION of ONE PROGRAM
In the spring of 2015, all schools and districts will be required to complete and submit a report on the evaluation of a program/strategy/initiative approved by MDE and housed in ASSIST.
Training is being provided by local ISDs on how to prepare for this new requirement. This new requirement is based on both state and federal legislation. Federal legislation requires that all programs funded by Title funds be evaluated annually to determine effectiveness and impact on student achievement. State legislation states that all schools - as part of the School Improvement Process - must annually evaluate the implementation and impact of their plan. Both Federal and State include in their legislation that the results of the evaluation are to be used formatively to modify plans.
