Sample Bright Spot HS

As you hover over each group of student (circles on RNN Data), a text box will appear with Historical or Longitudinal Data. Notice the SAMPLE High School was 2.9% below the expected proficiency in 2019 (pre-pandemic) and scored 22% ABOVE the expected proficiency in 2022 (approximately 60% of students (or 59.71%) were proficient when a comparison to similar schools would predict 38% proficient or 22% less than 60%).

Comparing Similar Schools on a National Level

The Educational Opportunity Project at Stanford University, (a.k.a. Stanford Educational Data Archive, SEDA), has created tools to compare schools, districts, and counties on a national level. Stanford uses state tests for grades 3-8 (e.g. M-STEP, PARCC, SBAC) to map to the Nation's Report card (NAEP) in order to create a comparable scale.  The first step is likely to read the Chicago Story and then explore the Ed Opportunity site which includes 2019-2022 Data across the Nation!

2019 Overview of Graphs and Tables

2019 RNN Data Graphs
2019 RNN Table
The newest iteration in 2019 RNN data in Tableau features the  2016-2019 RNN Data that includes the newer multiple regression that considers additional "at-risk" factors correlated to student achievement applied to the past four years. The two most significant factors included in the "multiple regression" was poverty and chronic absenteeism, district across the state are addressing attendance concerns (i.e. Strive for less than Five).  The previous versions of Tableau for RNN 2018 or the RNN Data 2013-2017 that features the weighted proficiency measure.

Reading Now Network Results are Promising

RNN Results in 2016:  News is starting to spread:  School News Network (2016) and McRel (2017).  Following the spring test of 2016, Region 3 began to gain some statewide attention due to the differences in the "best fit" line of the region and the state as seen in the graph on the left.
