Student Learning Objective (SLO) Updates

MASA Winter Conference

The presentation to be given at the MASA Winter Conference on SLOs has been converted into a PDF for easy access to the slides and embedded links.  As districts begin to implement SLOs according to PA-173, the following pages will be helpful:

1. Ed Eval page to better understand the balance between Student Growth Percentiles (SGP) and Student Learning Objectives (SLO).
2. SLO Introduction page to view an overview of PA-173 and to hear from the voice of educators in Rhode Island about their journey these past few years implementing SLOs. 
3. SLO Process (Cycle) page which includes several sample SLOs from Michigan and other states, plus some samples of scoring the SLO process.
4. How to guide educators to in Writing an SLO by understanding all six components, with additional support for these components paired:
   • SLO Boxes 1 & 3:  Who we teach and what we already know.
   • SLO Boxes 2 & 4:  What we will teach and how we'll measure it.
   • SLO Boxes 5 & 6: Establishing "rigorous and attainable" goals and the rationale for these goals.
